During the summer months, Second Harvest of the Inland Northwest needs extra peanut butter to help feed kids that no longer have access to school food programs.

In conjunction with the Ford Motor Company Focus on Hunger campaign, we will be promoting the 2016 Ford Peanut Butter Drive by working with Yoke’s Fresh Market to raise awareness of the need. Ford Focus on Hunger

Logo-MDI On May 14-21, 2016, we will be collecting peanut butter jars and will match each jar collected at our dealership.  You can also donate at all Greater Spokane Area Yoke’s Fresh Market stores.  All donations will be given to Second Harvest to stock their shelves for the summer months.

Why Peanut Butter?

Peanut butter is a rich source of protein. And kids love it!  Also, it has a long shelf life; therefore, the food bank can store it for a long time.

Some facts from Second Harvest:

1 out of 6 people in Spokane is hungry or at risk of hunger.

1 out of 4 kids in Spokane is not getting enough to eat.

16,000 people stand in food bank lines in Spokane County each month.

Nearly half of those in need are children.

The need for food assistance increases over the summer months, when thousands of children face a nutritional gap because they can’t access free school meals.

Second Harvest provides 6 pounds of food (about 5 meals) for hungry people for every $1 donated.

Most-needed food items include: peanut butter, protein items like canned meats and mac and cheese; canned fruits and vegetables; and dry grain products such as pasta, rice, and cereal.

The gift of food changes lives and gives people an opportunity to succeed and thrive.
